When Covid-19 began to spread, Airbnb shut down its in-person Experiences business. Hosts who normally offer local activities like cooking classes and surf sessions were suddenly out of work. Within two weeks, Airbnb built a platform that enabled hosts to share mini-versions of their Experiences in live, interactive video sessions for groups. The product quickly developed a dedicated following of guests “traveling the world” from home. Airbnb also created limited experiences in partnership with Broadway, TikTok, The International Olympic Committee, and celebrities including Bill Nye, Eva Longoria, and Alice Cooper.
Our creative team worked with hosts to design and test their Online Experiences. We developed a campaign launch based on real-life moments recorded from more than 150 digital experiences around the world. I wrote product, email, and social copy for the launch and subsequent partnerships.
